Metric & Scores Definitions

This guide will help you better understand your scores from your breakdown. If you have further questions or want to understand your metrics more in-depth, then schedule a call with one of our coaches.

  • Wrist Angle - this metric measures the amount of flexion/extension in the throwing side wrist at various phases during the throw.
  • Stride Step Length - this metric measures both the length of the stride step and the % of stride step length in relation to the quarterback’s height.
  • Timing of Stride Step - this metric measures how long it takes for your stride step to be planted into the ground.
  • Stride Step Angle - this metric measures the angle of the stride step.
  • Hip/Shoulder Separation - this metric measures the degree of separation between the hips and shoulders at various phases during the throw.
  • Maximum Shoulder External Rotation - this metric measures the degree of maximum external rotation in the shoulder.
  • Trunk Flexion - this metric measures the amount of flexion in the trunk at various phases during the throw.
  • Trunk Lateral Flexion - this metric measures the amount of lateral flexion in the trunk at various phases during the throw.
  • Elbow Extension - this metric measures the degree of extension in the elbow at release.
  • Knee Flexion - this metric measures the amount of flexion in the front knee at various phases during the throw.
  • Hip Rotation Speed - this metric measures the peak hip rotation speed during the throw.
  • Torso Rotation Speed - this metric measures the peak torso rotation speed during the throw.
  • Rotation Timing - this metric measures the time difference between peak hip rotation speed and peak torso rotation speed.
  • Maximum Hip/Shoulder Separation - this metric measures the maximum degree of separation between the hips and shoulders.
  • Arm Speed - this metric measures the speed of the throwing arm throughout the throw.
  • Release Time - this metric measures how long it takes to release the football from the start of the throw to the finish.
  • Kinematic Sequence Score - this score calculates the correct sequence of the throw based on the following sequence: pull, hip rotation, torso rotation, arm acceleration, and elbow extension.
  • Acceleration Score - this is a score generated from the following metrics: arm speed, maximum shoulder external rotation, hip rotation speed, torso rotation speed, maximum hip/shoulder separation, and kinematic sequence score.
  • Deceleration Score - this is a score generated from the following metrics: closing of the gap with hip/shoulder separation at release, trunk forward flexion at release, and trunk lateral flexion at release.
  • Velocity Efficiency Score - this is a score generated from your acceleration and deceleration scores.
  • Overall QB Rating - this is a score generated from the following metrics: acceleration score, deceleration score, kinematic sequence score, velocity efficiency score, arm speed, and release time.
